Please tell me you remember the commercials?
I’m dating myself, but in high school I remember that being a phrase we would use. A lot.
“I’ve fallen!”
And someone would yell, “And I can’t get up!”
I’m cringing so bad just writing the words.😓🙄😬
Yeah, it was one of those things where you heard it so often, you didn’t even think about the context any more.
Well, it doesn’t say much for me that this is what I thought about when I read this quote from Stephen Curry.
I used it this week in my Critical Thinking Builder class…and let’s just say, I did not mention the commercial to them, lol.
Instead, I always ask students if they agree or disagree with the quote…or if they’d rather just restate it in their own words.
Show this quote to your teen.
Ask the same thing…or start by saying, “I think this is great because….” (or “…ridiculous because…”)…
The point is to get a conversation started around this Growth Mindset idea.
Basically, how do we react to falls, failures, mistakes?
Even if it’s just a mental exercise.
Practicing your mindset impacts attitude and actual response in those real-life trying moments.
And hey, sometimes, it’s just nice to know that even Steph Curry isn’t perfect.
